The Great Horned Owl Diaries

There’s a small forest near my home that has become a truly special place for me. Though it’s easily overlooked by many, it turned out to be the perfect nesting site for a Great Horned Owl. In the spring and early summer of 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to observe two baby owlets during their first few months of life. Watching them grow, gain strength, and eventually spread their wings to explore new places was an unforgettable experience—one that filled me with deep gratitude.

Over the course of three months, I visited them 33 times, never staying long, but just enough to capture some photos and witness their progress as they learned to navigate the world. Each visit felt like a privilege, a quiet moment to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of their journey.

If you click on each photo, you’ll find a little write-up of my encounters from each day. I know there are some fellow owl enthusiasts out there, and I hope you enjoy these images as much as I enjoyed capturing them.
